MARCH 10 - THE AUTUMN TALE
Eric Rohmer completes his series of moral comedies with the last chapter of the critically acclaimed "Tales of the Four Seasons." Set in southern France during the grape harvesting season, the comedy centers around Isabelle, a married bookstore owner who tries matchmaking for her widowed friend Magali, an organic vintner. Winner of the Venice Film Festival Screenplay Award, it is an elaborate fantasy of love and longing, a charming tale about matchmaking. (France, English subtitles, 1998, 112 mins., 16 mm, Rated PG)
MARCH 17 - THREE SEASONS
Winner of the Grand Jury Prize, Cinematography Award and Audience Award at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival explores the lives of ordinary Vietnamese citizens, tells their stories, offering insight into the way Vietnam is struggling in the present to shape an unknown future. MARCH 24 - AN IDEAL HUSBAND
Based on Oscar Wilde's play and set in glittering 19th century London, it is a witty fast paced romantic comedy about ambition, political mores and sexual intrigue with an uncanny contemporary resonance. The story tells of a successful politician with an outwardly perfect marriage whose youthful indiscretions come back to haunt him. A dazzling blend of farce and morality that explores human frailty and social hypocrisy. (US, 1999, 98 mins., 16mm, Rated PG-13)
